A Return To Civility.

Fires continue to plague the Caltrans locations along the 110 & 105 Freeways. These fires are ARSON related and yet there is no investigation because it is deemed "homeless'.

Fires within the Caltrans areas are NOT reported to anyone. They are NOT reported to our elected representatives. They are not reported to CHP. They are NOT reported to Caltrans. Our local fire stations are notifying me of the incidents if I am not already at the location.

I have been the only person reporting these issues to Caltrans, CHP, LAPD, & our elected representatives.

In one week, these areas had 70 plus fires.

How Can These Incidents Impact Our Business Corridors?

This particular fire was next to a wooden pallet storage yard. Which is next to a trucking company. Which is next to a storage company.

This location is along Alondra Blvd & the 110 freeway. These areas have become a "hot bed" for homeless encampments. Fires are occurring 3-9 times a day.

I have been able to get homeless outreach providers into these hidden locations. Caltrans has begun to clean these areas. The issue once it has been cleaned up is how do we maintain it?

Let's talk about the locations where the majority of these incidents are happening?

A Little Trivia First....

Council District 15 boundaries begin on the East Bound Side of the 105 Freeway and runs South.

Council District 8 boundaries begin on the West Bound Side of the 105 Freeway and runs North

Two different Council Districts belonging to Two different Council Members.

Can you guess which belongs to which district?

Councilman McOsker One-Five

Councilman Harris-Dawson Eight

This is a sampling of the recent incidents within the Harbor Gateway area.

Our reporting is critical. Illegal dumping is the main cause of the fires. Unwanted items dumped on a street and guess where this ends up?
